In 1879 Sir William Armstrong donated Heaton Park, Armstrong park and Jesmond Dene to the city. This ancient and significant pear tree stood in the grounds of Heaton park prior to that date. It measure 35o cm @ 1.5M and has a significant crown spread of 13m. A Park which is a joy to visit and a tree which is a significant link to Newcastle’s significant industrial past.
