In May, the Northern branch of the Royal Forestry Society held a members event at Northumberland College Kirkley Hall. The morning was devoted to looking at how forestry and Arboriculture training was delivered, in addition to looking at the “Conifers for Colleges “project, a national forestry research project that the college are participating in. This was also an ideal opportunity to inform the group of the veteran tree project. This proved extremely useful in terms of both the advice they were able to give with respect to the location of certain trees as well as the fact that several volunteers were also recruited from their ranks.
